Virginia Equine, PLLC, a leading central Virginia equine practice, today announced it has completed installation of the RapidStudy™ Mark II digital radiography (DR) system from Eklin Medical Systems. Virginia Equine is the first equine practice to offer area patients this state-of-the-art imaging capability.
“We feel it is imperative to provide our patients with imaging from the best digital radiographic system available,” said Douglas K. Daniels, DVM, owner, Virginia Equine. “We want to offer our clients the best technology on the market to go along with our veterinary expertise. To this end, we purchased the Mark II because it provides superb images and post processing tools which help aid us in making more confident diagnoses.”
Just as digital cameras have made photography more efficient by eliminating film, the Eklin RapidStudy Mark II DR system provides the veterinarian with a radiographic image that can be viewed immediately on a high-resolution monitor without need for film developing. The digital image can be optimized after it is taken to provide greater insight into regions of interest which helps support diagnostic confidence. The system also provides significant workflow advantages which lead to faster implementation of treatment.
“We looked at other digital technologies on the market including computed radiography systems. Frankly, we were unimpressed with the quality of views that we saw,” said Dr. Daniels. “In addition to the excellent image quality of the Mark II, there is no longer a need to drive back to the office to develop films only to have to return to the field for retakes or to take additional views. This greatly speeds up our ability to begin treatment which can be critical to successful patient outcomes.”
In addition to DR imaging, Virginia Equine provides other services including reproduction, lameness, surgical, foaling and neonatal, pre-purchase and routine health exams and boarding. These services are available on an ambulatory or emergency basis.
